WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs continue to play solid baseball despite suffering their first loss of the season March 8 to the Page Sand Devils at Page 5-4. They got back on the winning road March 11 at home with a 12-1 win over the Holbrook Roadrunners.

That left the Bulldogs with a 6-1 record going into their home game against the Flagstaff Eagles on Thursday.

In the game at Page, Matthew Ramos took the loss despite a good pitching performance in which he worked five innings and gave up five runs, only two of which were earned, on six hits and three walks. Caleb Cirre worked a perfect inning in relief.

Winslow scored an unearned run in the top of the second inning on two Page errors but fell behind 2-1 in the bottom of the frame on two Page singles and a pair of walks.

Winslow regained a 3-2 lead in the top of the third

inning without a hit on two walks and a hit batsman. Page went up 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning on a double and two Winslow errors. The Sand Devils increased their lead to 5-3 in the sixth inning on an error, a hit batter and a double. The Bulldogs scored their final run in the top of the seventh on a double by C.J. Chacon and a single by Caleb Cirre.

Cirre was one for one, Matt Cirre and Chacon were one for two and Vincenzio Sells was one for three for the Bulldogs.

Jon Bollin got the win against Holbrook working four innings and allowing no runs on just two hits and five walks. Rodney Davis worked an inning in relief and gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk.

Winslow took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on singles by Sells, Colton Corum, Matt Cirre and Bollin.

The lead grew to 6-0 in the second inning on a triple by Chacon, singles by Rey Chavez-Velez and Corum and a Holbrook error.

The margin grew to 10-0 in the third inning on singles by Chavez-Velez and Corum and a double by Caleb Cirre, a Holbrook error and a hit batter. The final two runs came in the fourth inning on a walk, a hit batter and a single by Caleb Cirre.

Holbrook scored in the top of the fifth on a Winslow error, a walk and a single, but it was not enough to keep the game from ending with the 10-run mercy rule at the end of the inning.

Corum led the Bulldogs at the plate with a three for three day. Caleb Cirre was two for three with a double. Chavez-Velez was also two for three. Sells, Bollin and Chacon were all one for two with Chacon hitting a triple. Matt Cirre was one for three.

The Bulldogs play the Camp Verde Cowboys today and the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets March 25.
